  • Lots and lots of chew toys and newspaper!

  • You have to make up your mind what dog you want and have good fencing so the pup can’t escape and get the right food and chew toys, also where the pup is sleeping a dog bed puppy toilet training mats bowls for food and water. You need to train the pup from as soon as it is home get proper leads and collars also make sure the pup has been to the vets and had it injections and get micro chipped talk to the vet about any concerns if not sure also if the pup came from a breeder they will usually give you all the information on food etc.

  • When we got our puppy, toys that she was allowed to chew on were a must have. Without constant entertainment she’d be chewing up all my daughter’s toys instead! Also, a good spot carpet cleaner comes in handy too.

  • Buy an automatic dog feeder, it is the best invention. We set it for the 3 daily meals with a pre-recorded voice message to tell our puppy its time for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It pours out the right amount of kibble. There are also ones you can get that use wifi and if you are out you can see from your phone when the puppy is actually eating it.

  • Love to get feedback on how the puppy/new home is going

  • Hope it’s all going well :)

  • a good mop

  • A deer antler! We got one ready for our pup before we brought him home and he has never chewed anything else in the house. They last for ages and was great to give to him when he went through the mouthing stage of his teething to just replace our hands with the antler.

  • A collar with your contact details on it, a walking lead, chew toys and a bit of it’s current food to help with the transition.

  • Chewing toys:) and spot cleaner

  • puppy pads definitely if you don’t want to go insane finding little “presents” all over the house

  • Old towels, puppy pads, urine clean up spray – it’s bound to happen!

  • We got a puppy in September, a mini Dachshund. She is inside as a puppy and then will go outside when she gets bigger. I got a sturdy pen, fluffy bed, quality dry and wet food that the breeder recommended, bowls, toys, a Kmart pet grass training mat and wee pads.

She is really cute but it’s like having a baby! Lots of work but she is worth it. So cute!

  • You’ll be surprised by how little a puppy needs. Lots of love, patience and time for starters. A warm safe place to sleep. The rest can wait and add as you need

  • Puppy training is also a good idea.

  • I don’t think a puppy needs a lot…food bed and toys

  • Ask neighbours and local friends who has a great vet. Always good to set this up early so if something happens you are all set to go.

  • You will need to have lots of time and patient to train your puppy. Maybe it’s a good idea to train it to stay in a crate for some time; so you can take it with you in the car or leave it at home alone for a short time.

  • Pet stores should be able to supply you with suggestions and everything you need for a growing puppy. Plenty of patience and love from everyone is also needed for a puppy!

  • Puppy pads
