Hello!

I am thinking of doing something different this year on New Years Eve but I am stumped… something other than having a BBQ and having friends over or a fancy dress I feel I have done them all…. please help with any new suggestions my brain seems to have stopped dead in its tracks. Do you have any New Years Eve ideas?

  • I’m here in 2020 and with covid lockdowns there won’t be many NYE get togethers in NSW.

  • I do hope you had a wonderful New Year celebration. Near coming to a new one :)

  • Came here to get ideas for this coming new year lol found some great ones and have to say the older we’ve gotten the smaller more simple ideas hold the greatest value. Being together as a family enjoying a treat or two while camping or staying in but going out early the next day to a park etc far out weighs in value dealing with the crowds and so much noise so that you cannot hold a simple conversation. Think we might try a games night and bring the extended family together for a relatively stress free night.

  • Enjoyed reading all the ideas! Only 6 months away till the next! This year is flying!

  • I felt so lonely as we went out without the kids: 2015/16 we r staying in as a family – no excluding the kids!

  • Thanks for letting us know! Sounds like you had a wonderful night! :)

  • hi guys thankyou so much for all these wonderful ideas, I have wrote them all down so that I will have all these great ideas for years to come … we all ended up at the nearby parks and gardens were they had a festival and watched the 9-30 and the midnight fireworks, had an amazing night … once again THANKYOU FOR ALL THE GREAT IDEAS.. going to be trying another one of these great ideas next year

  • Hope you had a wonderful New Year celebration. Would love to know what you decided to do? :)

  • I hope you ended up finding something you really wanted to do but most of all enjoyed it

  • I’m a bit too late whoops.

  • Sounds like a lot of interesting and fun ideas :), I’m thinking of trying one of these myself :)

  • Think of a theme eg a colour or country eg Mexico. You can do Mexican type foods like tacos, have a piñata for the kids, wear somberos, drink sangrias – the list is endless.

  • This has already been suggested, but I could also recommend a murder mystery party. I had one for my thirtieth and can highly recommend them. Heaps of fun!

  • Maybe just have a nice simple evening with starters and wine.

  • What about hosting one of those murder mystery parties?

  • wow thankyou everyone,,, you all have given me great ideas for years to come…BRING ON NEW YEARS EVE

  • Why not do a games and cocktails night? Use slow cookers to cook food and ask people to bring along games.

  • Well I think it will be just me and my two sons at home alone again. Not much fun here and im to scared to go out alone.

  • How about not do anything? Have a quiet one, no parties, no alcohol, and either stay up to midnight and start the new year with meditation and the bed, or go to bed early, get up early and start the new year with yoga, meditation so that you start it happy, healthy and without a hangover!

  • One really different idea: get a group of friends together and begin the new year with charity! All of you could volunteer to feed the homeless or other local event in your suburb, after that have a party, get together to celebrate everything you are grateful for and pledge to do it again.
