Hello!

I would like some advice about products that work for eggs, nits and lice etc. My 3 year old is at daycare and I need to be ready.

  • Daily combing with a conditioner at the moment there is a nit invasion is very effective. As prevention I make a spray bottle with diluted vinegar with some drops of tea tree or eucalyptus oil and spray that in the hair when brushing.
It helps when longer hair is tied or braided.
Hairspray & hair gel reduce the free movement of the lice in the hair too.

  • We had a nightmare run with nits a few years back. I found that the natural based products worked better. I thought the full chemical ones would, but they had other side effects for us like dry skin etc. We also found that the hair straighter worked good to burn any out, and monitor daily to catch any stray ones the treatment didn’t get. After we got rid of them all we started using a tea tree hair spray that was also a detangler, formulated for kids. It was brilliant. After we started using that we never had another infestation.

  • Using a hair straightener works a charm

  • I found that Tea Tree Shampoo & Conditioner worked a charm on my sons.

  • I always made sure to put their hair up and used hairspray I used lice treatment like Nitwits

  • I did as much as I could to tie back my kids hair. Regular spraying with tea tree oil too

  • I use a mix of 1:1 of tea tree oil and cheap conditioner. You should be able to make a whole bunch for less than $10 and still have leftover for next time.
Apply straight to hair then nit comb and wash the comb between to check and clear anything so they can’t hide.
I do this again 3 days later, and once more to check in a week’s time (never had any left a week later)
    Good luck

  • You can spend a lot of money on all kind of products, but my experience is that fine combing the hair with plenty of conditioner is just as good. Repeat daily during a invasion. I would invest in a good lice comb though.
As a defense spray I make up a bottle of diluted vinegar with some drops of tea trea oil and spray that daily on my daughters hair before brushing

  • Licetec v comb I’ve bought i liked all the reviews, I’m yet to use it my daughter is 5 now but I’m all prepared. Check it out for yourself see what you think

  • Heard great things about MooGoo treatment. Would suggest straightening your own hair until their gone – the heat should take care of any you may pick up.

  • There are a few different preventative sprays you can get from the chemist which are good. They also have nit combs and different shampoos etc that you can use if she does get them. Have a chat to the chemist and see what they recommend. As she’s only 3, if she does get them and you want to try something natural, coconut oil and a nit comb is a good option… you just need to do it a few times (weekly) It’s great for their hair as well.
