  • Photos … never discard! They are priceless. I would declutter by scanning them and storing them on a small usb drive. Then you can chuck away the hardcopies and negatives if you really want more space

  • Definitely do not throw them out, photos are so important!

  • Photos I’d keep – they’re irreplaceable and important memories.

  • I actually think photos are one of those things that shouldn’t be decluttered. You can’t replace them if you regret it later.

  • I actually took my photos out of the albums threw away the ones that didn’t mean anything and place the rest in a shoe box. I also wrote who what and where on the back of pictures so people would know what it was about.

  • I’ve actually done this myself, except the photos were in packets, not albums and were from the 80’s and 90’s. I set aside a day when it was really hot outside and went through them one packet at a time. I kept all sentimental stuff with family, friends, pets, my homes, etc. I chucked out a heap of photos that were landscape, especially where I couldn’t remember where it was, blurred stuff, insignificant photos like a bird on a cage at a zoo.

  • If they’re already in photo albums, there is no issue. Keep them all! You’ll regret throwing any of them out

  • Photos are something that should be exempt from decluttering. They are so special and irreplaceable.

  • I’d throw out photos that aren’t necessarily sentimental. Others however write on the back of them like who’s in it where it was taken the date etc. Always good for future reference or if families are doing family trees and are looking for information.

  • Noooo photos are memories and you might regret it. They might mean so much more down the future for your kids etc.

  • Indeed… I also love going through old photo albums. I still have some of when I was a child, and my husband too. My daughter loves going through them!! And we too!!

  • I love photos and there’s no way I would ever consider getting rid of photo albums! Not even if I put all the photos on to the computer or memory stick. There’s just something so special about real printed photos. I do hope you kept yours???

  • I bought a negative scanner to back up all my old photos in case I lost any. They’re memories that can’t be replaced.

  • Oh my. No, I’ve got a lot of photo albums and personally I would never get rid of them. They are quite organized. I still have some old pictures though that are just in a big box. I should go through them and probably throw away the ones of bad quality that don’t have any sentimental value.
Another think you could do if you really want to throw away pictures, is to scan them all, so at least you will still have them digital.

  • Our albums do not really take up that much space.

  • I will never get rid of albums – they are treasured and will be passed on to the children.

  • We did, lots of rubbish photos and some that we just no longer have in an album. They take up a lot of space.
