Hello!

Okay, it is a tiresome job trying to put labels on school items, and tricky items like pencils don’t help. I have just returned from shopping, and found at the local newsagency, pencils with names already printed on them. These were cheap costing only four dollars, so perhaps other parents can find and buy them saving all that hassle… our newsagency had a large variety of names, and I noticed at our two dollar shop, they also had them…. Have you thought to look there for cheaper school items? I did and was greatly surprised.

  • We always save money in this area because it can be so costly.

  • We have always gone with easy printed options.

  • Great tip. I never did label stationery, only books and clothing.

  • Whether the items are labeled or not, my younger kids seem to loose them anyway so I stopped labeling the smaller items and spare myself the hassle. However when I would bump into pen, pencils and textures with the right names on it I probably would buy them.

  • I used to order sets from this online company and they made really cute labels even for shoes . They were not dear either . Of course I forgot the name because my kids are no longer little ones . The labels were colourful and sticks on anything .

  • They usually end up losing stuff with or without names. I only mark the bigger items with names, definitely not pencils

  • I can’t find my daughters name anywhere :(

  • Yep and those vinyl name labels are great for pencils also =)

  • wow – great tip, thanks for sharing xxx

  • This only works if your child has a ‘standard’ name.

  • The two dollar shops are great for items that get lost easily – the replacement isn’t so painful.

  • I love finding bargains for kids school things, or stuff in general. It’s the hidden cheapies. I believe in spending money on some good items, and having the bargains mixed in. Kind of like myself. Couple of expensive items, then the specials.
We worry about peer pressure and labels. It’s a persons personality that counts.
I label my daughters school jumpers with permanent marker on material inside the back.
Cute labels can come off. It’s amazing how things go missing!! Even labeled, nothing like a bargain for some that is free!

  • thank you for sharing these good suggestions

  • Not too fussed about lost pencils at school, they are like pens in the office, you lose some, you find some!

  • there are some good comments here

  • Identity direct offer a lot of personalised stationary options for students.

  • My kids lost their pencils wether or not they had their name on them… I buy cheap 99c ones… they come home with other peoples… and vice a versa..
I really have no care for it untill they can look after their things right…

  • I just cut a pattern into the end of the pencils

  • My man grinds the sides of the pencils, just enough to be able to write the names on the raw timber.

  • Great idea – will be check it at Newsagency.
