Positive affirmations for kids - Mouths of Mums

Hello!

Hi Mums,

This year i want to write hand written notes in my daughters lunch box for her to read while she enjoys her lunch at school. I have done some research on the internet and found some great quotes but would love to hear if any other mums have done this and what has worked for you. Was there any specific quotes that really caught your childs attention and stood out. I want them to be fun but also meaningful. I would love to hear any you have done in the past that I could incorporate in the ones I am preparing.

  • This is a really cute idea. I think messages like You’re a great person. You make the people around you happy. You can do anything you put your mind to today.

  • Yes I did with my third child. She was diagnosed with Reactive attachment disorder, impulse control disorder / kleptomania, conduct disorder and trauma developmental disorder. She struggled at school big time and had many many suspensions and detentions. I left a daily note with a quote in her lunchbox and later also made them in little cards which I laminated. It’s hard to say how much this helped, but it’s always good to speak positive words and affirmation to our kids

  • I enjoyed writing the personal affirmations such as you are smart. you are beautiful, you are kind, you are creative etc. But I also added in additional affirmations such as “stay true to yourself” and “i love how you treat others the way you want to be treated”. My girls are in year 4 and year 2 this year and those little reminders when times get tricky with social groups at school have helped us.

  • We are huge fans of lists and making a list and ticking off a list is so rewarding. We sat down and we went through all of the things we love about our children. We looked at what makes them special and looked and all of their qualities and all of the things they want and made an affirmations list and used them as affirmations.

  • Great idea ❤️

    • You are clever
    • You are a kind friend
    • Keep trying your best
    • Never give up
    • Be the colour
    • Tell your friends a joke
    • Im so proud of you

Just a few lol also try some cute lil jokes you know will make them giggle x

  • I love this idea! Super cute. My daughter goes into year 2 this year, so she loved when I simple notes in her lunch box that she could read (Its amazing when they start to read!)

Because she was only 6 and couldnt read amazing, I put things like “I love you”, “Have a good day”, “You are kind, you are loved.” If she was feeling a little anxious or upset in the morning, id put things like You’re strong, youre brave, youre a great friend, you can do anything if you try etc.. older kids could have more complex sentences, but these worked for my daughter 🙂

  • Temu sells these adorable ‘postive potatoes’ each one comes with its own little quote. Maybe that might be a cute little idea as a one off. I think maybe a good one to start with would be ‘You can do anything you put your mind to’ or maybe ‘kindness is everything! Think of something kind you could do for someone at school today’.
