Random acts that your kids do - Mouths of Mums

Hello!

My daughter loves to randomly say, “Mum, I need a hug” and most of the time, it’s just because she wants a cuddle, she’s not upset or anything. It makes me realise how much I’m going to miss these little moments when she gets older and probably doesn’t want quite as many hugs anymore. What does your child/kids do now that you know you’re going to miss when they grow up and don’t want to do it anymore?

  • At my stage of life it’s all about grandkids. I’m going to miss the very long and drawn our stories one is writing and reading to me or how he explains the characters and plots while I try hard to keep up. My other little one it is the displays of strengths and Karate skills that he stops to show us and babble on about.

  • Yes my youngest is like this. She may not ask for a hug but just grab you in a tight koala hug and squeezes me so tight that I nearly fall on the floor (she has Down syndrome and is super strong). My older kids don’t hug as often anymore and I do miss that. Gone are the days they need us for everything, but I do make a point to be there and give all attention when they come to share something or ask advice

  • I’m way too hormonal to think of this haha 😅 everything! They need us constantly and always look to us for comfort and happiness. It will be wonderful to stand back and see the beautiful person I helped create and guide, but be bitter sweet that I no longer hang the moon for them.

  • It’s definitely great that you’re thinking about these things and enjoying them now. My kids are all older teenagers/ young adults now and I definitely miss them needing me as much. It’s bitter sweet, I’m so proud of them taking care of themselves but I miss it too. I remember someone saying one day will be the last day you pick up and carry your child and it made me so sad so I held on as long as I could lol. Now I still hug them every single day even if I can’t pick them up 😅
