How did you go with the stain?

I would sand the entire top and stain it!!

Depends what the table is made from. If it’s wood, then try rubbing the area with the inside of a walnut shell, as that stain will cover nearly anything.

Oops, it will be permanent. Rubbing some furniture polish may disguise it a bit. Look up Shannon Lush’s site, she may have a suggestion.

My mum had the same issue on her coffee table, I’ve attached screen shot pic of what she tried, it worked for her so it may be worth a try, good luck

Happens to me aswell. I use hot water on a cloth

I just did the same thing! I am going to rub a bit of wooden furniture oil over it. Hopefully that works because it looks awful!

Try rubbing it with a walnut..hopefully that will work.

It could just be an oil stain that may improve with a good clean or you may need to give it a light sand and restain it.

Sadly it is really hard to get it off…you might need to sand it back and re-stain…or get yourself a great table runner!
