  • We took some photos the past year in a speciality Christmas store that had a Santa there to greet kids. There wasn’t any professional photographer which meant no one was asking for money to take the picture. Our toddler is very shy and wouldn’t like the usual set up of being held by Santa

  • I have had photos taken with Santa since my daughter was a baby and I will keep the tradition going until she doesn’t want to go. I love looking back at the photos each year and it is a nice memory to have when she is older. I tend to go to places where you pay for your photos as the quality is better but there are plenty of places that do it for free where you can use your own iphone to take the photo. I like doing the Myer experience with a visit to Santa at the end of the show.

  • The traditions we have are based around preparing and making food together for Christmas. We like to make our own Christmas pudding that is enormous and then gets shared with extended family. It is rich and delicious to eat and everyone absolutely loves it! We make other favourite Christmas foods too.

  • We never took Santa photo’s. Why paying money for a photo with a random Santa figure where you have no connection with ? BellaB’s suggestion makes sense. But rather than making photo’s with Santa, we do make family photo’s during Christmas, but it’s more about shooting a photo of moments shared, just like other moments small and big

  • We do a Santa photo every year, though we go to the shopping centres where you take the photos yourself on your phone (or an elf does it for you), either for free or for a gold coin donation to charity. My eldest is turning 18 and so far the three of them have let me do it every year.

  • We participated in getting Santa photos for a very short period of time. The children decided at a very young age that they were not keen on a photo with Santa and were happy to completely avoid Santa. We always buy a new decoration for the house at Christmas; it always has a link to something special experienced throughout the year.
