School holidays are such a great time to get creative without breaking the bank. For kids aged 6 and 8, I love setting up craft days at home. You don’t need to spend much—just gather some paints, paper, and any recycled materials you have lying around, and let them unleash their imaginations. It keeps them entertained for hours, and they’re so proud of what they create.
Another favorite is backyard camping. It doesn’t have to be fancy—just a tent, some fairy lights, and maybe a little BBQ or picnic. If you’re lucky with the weather, stargazing is always a magical way to end the day.
I have a 6 and 8 year old and honestly they just love getting out for rides on their bikes going to the parks and or going for picnics! They also really love the beach ( not sure if you are close to the beach or not ) andn we will often have movie nights at home with popcorn etc…
Also they love having catch ups with school friends.
I also check the local paper/library for free holiday activities for something different.
It’s always so challenging to keep the kids entertained during school holidays that won’t break the bank! Don’t be upset if they have moments of boredom, apparently kids need that. There’s lots of activities here on MoMs that are good value
