Should I put my 3 yr old in preschool?

Hello!

She is the only one at home now as her older siblings are at school. She doesn’t go to school for a few more years yet but I thought just to interact with other kids and have a little fun. We didn’t have a good experience with our last child in preschool he was always sick.. really sick so I was paying for preschool and he wasn’t going also I didn’t think that it was fair and seeing him always sick and miserable.

Depends how long it is for, 3 year old kinder is only a short time and plygroups are fun for both of you. Mine went to childcare 2 days a week from 3 and hated it when he was older as he was bored of it

Yes pre-school can have a very postive impact. Re getting sick that is possible, mine never really picked up many illnesses. Maybe give it a try and see how she goes and anticipate on that.

My kids love daycare. But they do get sick – especially the first 6 months. But after that it gets better. There is also 3 year old kinder

I put my son into kindy and it was the best thing I have ever done. He just blossomed! He was always very hesitant and wary not the sort of kid to just get in there and play and now he has loads of friends and his confidence just skyrocketed! Can’t recommend enough

My son is 3 1/2 and he goes to Kindy. If you think your daughter would like it then let her go. Maybe consider a C&K Kindy or a Kindy that is not apart of a daycare centre. One class instead a number of children of various ages can limit the sickness.

i think that you can trial it and see how it goes. that is the only way to know for sure! otherwise try to meet up with some other mums at the park and see if she likes interacting with the other children

My little Miss is 3.5 and doing 3yo Kinder (or Preschool) and absolutely loves it!
I tried her in child care for 1 day a week last year but we only lasted 3 times before stopping as it just wasn’t for her. I thought we would then have problems with Kinder but it’s quite the opposite…she is desperate to go. And so far this Term we haven’t had any illness.
It also depends on what you do during the day. There are lots of things you can do still to get the socialisation with other kids…Playgroup, Library sessions, Parks, Play centres, Music groups etc. Really up to you 🙂

It is such a personal decision and there is no right or wrong answer and it definitely depends on individual circumstances, however for my child, he definitely needs the social interaction and is much happier now he goes to kindy. He was like your child and home alone without his siblings. Although I try to do activities with him, he gets bored with me and household chores often get in the way. The kindy he goes to has a “School readiness” program which is fabulous plus a lot of structured activities along with a a lot of free play.
