Perhaps relocate them to pots on the window ledge or otherwise elevated containers (Ours are in containers in a cage with guinea pigs. They are elevated to stop the guinea pigs but the cage protects from birds).
Maybe make a little frame and attach some wire from an old window screen or some light (not to dense) shade cloth. In our area snails and slugs are worst offenders, then the birds when they are really ripe. We had trouble with ants one year. They made tiny little holes in them and ate the centre of the strawberries first. We soon learnt that you didn’t pick one off the plant and put it straight in our mouths.
I don’t mind sharing ours with our resident blue tongue. But if it’s become a problem, put wire around your garden, the small hole one. That would stop blue tongues. If you’re talking skinks……I have no idea
