Hello!

I have a lot of dental issues, and I was just wondering when you first took your child to the dentist? My son is 2, but his teeth seem fine to me. Thanks in advance

  • I started taking my kids to the dentist from their first year onwards, to get them used to opening their mouth and the dentist checking their teeth and for them to sit in the chair.

  • I have been taking my son from the age 2.5 so they he can get used to the chair and the dentist! We now have been several times and he loves it.

  • I think my daughter was 4 years old when I first brought her to the dentist.

  • Now is o,k!

  • I took my kids at 3.5 to see the dentist but now it starts from the age of 2

  • I would wait until they are around 5 years old

  • Wait until he is about 4 or 5 yrs. This way his 2nd teeth will be coming. Don’t worry too much atm as he only has his milk teeth.

  • I wouldn’t bother if his teeth are fine, they will still fall out in a couple of years

  • good question. i hate the dentist, i havnt taken my 2yr old to the dentist yet…… new adventure……

  • From the age of 2 onwards mainly to get them use to the dentist-lol!

  • My dentist recommend to start at 2 so they can get used to the chair and the dentist!

  • take him asap its good to get him used to it

  • when he has a few teeth every kid is different

  • what did you decide on?

  • Our school dentist likes to see them from around 2 years. The first appointment is usually sitting on your knee, putting the bib on for familiarity and counting teeth. Just to give them the idea of what’s it’s like and take the “unknown” away.

  • Take him with you when you have a check up that way he gets to know the dentist. If you are having work done, leave him at home. When they get to school, the school dental van comes round to check their teeth, they are used to working with children and are great.

  • 4 or 5 is a good time. Buy him a toothbrush and let him play with it in the meantime.

  • Yes whenever you go, take them with you to see what goes on.

  • I had both of my girls checked when they started kinder, my partner & I both have horrible teeth and we found issues we hadn’t even noticed.
We brush regularly, and they eat mainly fruit but they still had holes we couldn’t see.
We have a local community dentist who will see the kids every 12mths for a small fee and any other emergency check ups.

  • Thankfullly my little one does not have any teeth problems, but we have always taken him to our dentist whenever we have our general check-up due.
