  • I used to use the warm setting but found that my clothes wash just as well in cold water and it saves power as well.

  • I was almost all my washing in cold water. I only use warm water when the clothes are particularly dirty.

  • I only ever wash in cold water.
I do love to line dry things too as the sun is fantastic for stains etc.
Im too scared to shrink thinks when it comes to washing in hot water.

  • I wash everything in cold water – because my washing machine is getting old and will not take in any hot water.

  • I always use cold water as these days washing powder is suited for both , There is no need to use hot unless there was a specific need as saves high bills as well .

  • I use cold water for all of my washing. Depending on the washing instructions on their tags, you can wash them with antibacterial soaker if you have any concerns. Another option is to put Canesten Hygiene Laundry Rinse (Antibacterial and antifungal). You put in your washing machine where you may otherwise put fabric conditioner. It is suitable to use in cold water – in top or front loading washing machines. It is liquid and dissolves in cold water. I don’t know how many different ones there are but one is labelled lemon. A friend of mine used it when her husband caught a contageous skin disease. With stringent hygiene and washing all towels, sheets and his clothing separately and adding the Canesten, none of the rest of them family got infected at all. We suspect he may have in contact with it at his workplace.

  • Always wash in cold water for everything!

  • I only use cold water for my laundry. It’s recommended for most clothes and is the best option economically wise. With 1 exception, I wash the dog bedding in hot water to kill fleas and help with freshness

  • Info cold unless they have that smell towels and bath mats get then I do hot

  • I just wash all in cold water.

  • I wash everything on a cold wash. They always turn out fine. I don’t even have the hot water connected to my washing machine. I guess if you were worried about the cold wash you could put your machine on a super clean cycle if it has one ?

  • I do everything in cold water with softner (for the towels) I would consider electricity costs before turning the heat up.

  • I always wash clothes cold water as if I used the hot water there would not be any hot water left for any showers as we have off peak hot water

  • The short answer is whatever temp it comes out of the tap, have no option in our antiquated laundry as we have cold water only connected.

  • Always cold, save for woollens requiring warm

  • My front loader washes at 40 degrees for most washed. I find it’s perfect for our stuff.

  • Only ever wash in cold water. I use canestan wash in the machine for towels to sanitise them

  • towels I do in cold as well as the sheets

  • i wash in cold no matter what it all comes out the same

  • Linen and towels are the only ones I do a hot water wash for.
