Hello!

We are struggling to find a middle name for our second daughter, the only name that I like that goes is Kaye/Kay but that is already our first daughters middle name.
When asking our first daughter (7) what her sisters middle name should be, she has suggested/asked to have the same middle name.

  • I would love an update and to know what you decided in the end and if you elected to use the same name how do the girls feel about that now?
I was always upset as a child as i didnt have a middle name. I have always felt ripped off.

  • I think its fine. I have twin girls and gave them both my middle name, i have a singleton boy and gave him my husbands middle name. Its a nice family tradition.

  • I think this is so sweet and love that her older sister wants it to be that too! It will make her feel like she has had part in naming her!

  • Personal decision. Only you can decide that. If you and your family are happy to do so, then go for it

  • If you love it, why not use it again. Kay is a lovely name and it sounds like big sister would love to share her name with her new sister which is very sweet.

  • I think its perfectly fine to be honest, and if it doesn’t bother you or the kids there is nothing wrong with the same middle name, as long as you love it

  • I think I will try to look for other name and do not use same name.

  • Your children your choice. It’s a middle name not their first

  • In some families it carries on through generations :)

  • I think thats lovely that the first daughter wants to have the same middle name <3

  • I don’t see a problem with them having the same middle name.

  • I don’t see a problem with giving them the same middle name.

  • I don’t think it matters. Middle names are rarely used.

  • I don’t think it’s a problem to give siblings the same middle name. But I’m not a fan of middle names in general. My boys don’t have middle names.

  • I doubt that the children would object as a middle name is very rarely used these days and they might really love they have the same name to share with each other as they grow up.

  • I found it a little odd that my brother’s 2 children have the same middle name. They are now grown up & they don’t have a problem with it

  • I think that the same middle name is sweet.gives your daughters a little bond to share.

  • I know (personally) of a mother of 8 daughters, Each one had the middle name.
    What else could be worse,
Each Daughter’s first name Started with the same letter!!!

  • I don’t think it’s a big deal. Middle names don’t really get used that often I find?

  • Our children are individuals and also love sharing the same middle name.
