Hello!

What tips can you offer to keep my child’s room from getting too cluttered with toys? She doesn’t want to part ways with her toys and I have limited storage options. I would love to hear what ideas you have or what you have tried and it’s been a success.

  • Regular tidy ups and clean outs when your child isn’t around to see. Chances are high what she doesn’t see she won’t notice

  • Put the stuff she doesn’t often play with away in a box. If she doesn’t ask for those toys after a couple of weeks or so then you can donate them.
A lot of kids don’t want to get rid of anything! I always say to mine, if they get rid of some then they can get more (them not knowing “more” means birthdays or Christmas) lol.

  • Rotate toys in boxes in the shed and declutter.

  • Give up. Embrace it. It is a lost cause.

  • I don’t have any toys in my twins bedroom. But we have a spare room where most of the toys are. Some in tubs. Not sure if you have a spare room available?

  • Culling is the most logical way as they just can’t play with it all. Otherwise tubs for various types and only play with a few at a time and put them back.

  • I agree with limited tubs in bedrooms and other tubs in family rooms. We have always used colour coded tubs for different areas.

  • From the very start we kept minimal toys in bedrooms. Each of our kids have one basket in their rooms and that is it. The rest are in communal toy boxes, one inside in the lounge and the other outside. We cull toys as they grown and stop playing with them. We also encourage them to donate because it’s nice to share and give to others

  • And with my youngest I moved all toys out of her bedroom, so the bedroom is simply for sleeping

  • yes we had lots of storage tubs too. Ikea has great cupboards and shelve systems with storage tubs/drawers

  • We have always used tubs for storing toys and other items. It makes clean quick and easy and also fun!
