You can actually buy Pine o clean washing machine cleaner now I have used it it works quite well

Set a cycle for ninety degrees. I do it weekly with my towels or sheets. Mine is sparkly clean

I do bicarb and vinegar once a month on the hottest cycle. Before I do this I first clean the rubber by the door and behind the rubber, as it can gather a build up of dirt !

I recently bought a sanitizer that you put in and run a cycle in your washing machine and it cleans it out for you. Next to stain removers.

Just wanted to say a thanks to everyone who answered this as i was wondering the same thing myself!

Use a cup of vinegar on a hot cycle and that should do the trick. You can also add some Eucalyptus or peppermint oil to get rid of the smell. And I was told by a washing machine repairman that if you want to extend the life of your washing machine, NEVER EVER EVER use fabric softener in it, as it causes all sorts of damage and build-up in the machine. A tablespoon of white vinegar in the final rinse will make the clothes soft & you won’t smell the vinegar in the fabrics when they dry.

I agree with the vinegar idea. maybe even run with some disinfectant and eucalyptus oil in it. eucalyptus is great for cleaning and freshening.

Run it with vinegar in it

I clean the filters and take out the centre agitator but I use dominant powder and have never had to ‘clean the washing machine’ as such.
