Hello!

“Hi a friend just tagged me x I’m not sure if what my daughter has been through is ok but her first week at school this year as she is in kindy a random boy turnt around and hit her in the face
Two weeks later she was bullied by a yr2 boy. Now we struggle to get her to school every morning she wakes around 4.45am to say she is sick or has a tummy ache or headache to try get out of going to school. It is so wrong and so hard and depressing as a parent knowing this child was once so excited to go to big school now she is there she doesn’t want to be there. Academically she is gifted it’s like in class she knows she is safe. It’s very hard as a mother to deal with this”

  • Yes, I would definitely talk to the teacher, maybe even with your daughter present. And talk about what she needs to feel safe and happy at school.

  • Talk to the teachers and as you are doing checkout any other suggestions – like advice that you can give her to help her ignore/walk away from upsets. Sounds like she is intelligent, perhaps more aware for her age, understands the ‘right and wrong’ of a situation and doesn’t find it easy to shrug off upsets or forgive accidents? Give her a few more coping strategies to see if she can’t deal with the upset more easily. You say she feels safe in the class – I presume that is when teachers are around? or she feels confident she cando the work? Maybe build on that to rebuild excitement.

  • Good luck Darl
