Hello!

I would like to know how they transitioned toddlers from being bottled fed to a sippy cup. My son loves his milk, but have been trying to give it to him from a sippy cup and he will not drink it (he only takes it from him bottle). He drinks his water from a straw cup, but when I tried this with the milk once again he wouldn’t drink. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

  • I just kept offering it, along with saying things like “you’re growing up now” to encourage him. I can’t remember having any real problem with it.

  • some good advice thanks

  • How is he going now?

  • we had a soft sippy cup first (a non spill one) and once she got used to that moved to a hard one

  • did you have any success?

  • Hope some of these tips have been able to help

  • How are you going with it now?

  • What tips did you like?

  • How have you gone – any luck?

  • Keep trying, if he’s thirsty he will take the Sippy cup and will start to like it

  • Keep trying with the sippy and straw cups.

  • Have you tried a cup? My son wouldn’t take milk out of a sippy cup, but he would drink it from a cup, obviously with me holding it and tipping it for him as he was too young to do it himself.

  • I’d try a soft spouted drink bottle, he might prefer it as its more like a bottle than the strawed cups.

  • tell him he a big boy and throw away the bottles

  • I agree with traci .. Give him no choice

  • give him no choice & things may soon change.

  • Get the ones with the soft teat

  • Persistence is definitely the key… It pretty much comes with the territory for us Mums doesn’t it ;)

  • Thanks everyone for the tips – some great ideas, looks like I’ll need to persevere a bit more and hopefully he will come around! Thanks again!

  • maybe get him to pick a new cup he likes?
