Hello!

“Can you please post a question about kids grinding their teeth! My three year old is constantly grinding them no matter what she is doing. Sitting on my knee and it sounds yuk. I know they are just milk teeth but it still can’t be good. Any ideas on why she does it or what I can do to get her to stop”

  • Yes, it’s hard. I catch my boy doing it too. I just try to bring his attention to it.

  • I grind mine at night without knowing it and had to get a guard – I hope you found some answers

  • i am not sure. you could ask her to stop and try to explain why or distract her

  • Just tell her to stop whenever you see it. Its a habit and she needs to break it.

  • you can get a guard from the dentist, it can wear your teeth down if they don’t stop or protect their teeth

  • Hope some of the suggestions have helped

  • A gentle reminder for her to stop when you hear it, she may not realise she’s doing it.

  • how is it going now?

  • Have you asked her why she is grinding her teeth – at three you don’t want this to develop into a habit.

  • And lucky with stopping the teeth grinding?

  • How is she now? Still grinding her teeth?

  • Did she end up stopping the teeth grinding?

  • It is a new experience having toothy pegs in their mouth, eventually it will stop.

  • I hope you found an answer

  • I hate the sound when kids grind their teeth. You could speak to the dentist.

  • Apparently I grind mine in my sleep…I’m worried so I think I’ll head to the dentist. Anyone have knowledge on this?

  • i think its just a stage, if you are really concerned talk to your gp about it..its probably habit for her now..

  • Ugh I absolutely can’t stand this. My daughter used to be bad for it but I’d pull her up every time and she doesn’t do it as often now, I sometimes hear her do it in her sleep. Maybe try stopping your daughter from doing it, tell her shes wrecking her teeth. It’d be better to break the habit now before she gets her adult teeth.

  • We were told if that grinding our teeth meant we had worms I dont know whether it is true or not. Hope you find the solution to the problem

  • I think it’s just a phase
