Hello!

When cooking dinner do other MoMmies just open a packet mix,can or jar to create a meal every night or do you make a meal from scratch?

  • It depends on how much energy I have. If I have a lot of time I’d prefer to make a meal from scratch. However when life gets in the way there is nothing wrong with using a jar of ready made sauce served on a bed of pasta. Either way it is tasty!

  • Both! I am in disbelief that this question is almost 6 years old though!

  • A bit of both – packet mixes mainly due to ordering pantry hampers from castles / chrisco etc. Prefer to make from scratch but time doesn’t always permit

  • Goodness , of course ! How else will you get buy if you have to make everything single thing from scratch . It is much easier I think if you are a stay at home mother and can devote more time in cooking and preparing meals , but still there might be an odd occasion where you don’t have fresh tomotaes and you need a can of Domino’s or Rafello !

  • No way, yuck! I’ve tried heaps of packets and jars for recipe bases, they’re mostly yuck. I have one sweet and sour packet recipe I use, it’s the only one I keep buying. Even the ready made meals are disgusting. Fresh and home made is by far best

  • Yep, most times. I don’t pretend to be Martha Stewart. As long as nutrition is balanced out

  • I usually make my meals from scratch as I meal plan so know I have everything I need on hand. I find it cheaper to make your own marinades/sauces/gravies etc and then I know what is in them

  • We use a mix of both packet stuff and cooking from scratch, depending on what we are cooking

  • l do both depending on how much time l want to spend on a meal.

  • I use both. For tomato pasta sauce I just use a jar but if I make a carbonara I make it from scratch. Just stocking a few things like stock cubes, cream, bacon and either spring onions or leek you can make lots of different sauces that taste yummy 🙂 oh and I made one the other day for lamb chops with a French onion soup mix and cream and onions it was great.

  • I cook from scratch 80% of the time because i know how much salts and sugars im adding in and not using preservatives.

  • All depends on time! Its very convenient and quick to open a can of spag bol sauce, but tastes 10x better when I put the effort in to make it.

  • i try to make things from scratch, or if i do use a packet mix i always add other things too it 🙂
