Hello!

My 2.5yr old daughter is great at going to the toilet to do a pee but trying to get her to do poos on the toilet is a struggle. I don’t know what else to do. Any tips would be muchly appreciated

  • My son took a while to get the hang of poo because he was used to doing it standing up.

  • Have you tried giving her something to keep her occupied while she sits? Maybe a book or handheld game, maybe keep something that she just does when she’s sitting for a poo

  • I had a little trouble with this with my oldest and we found out that the water splashing his bum scared him too much so we have to put in a little bit of paper first and he is happy.

  • She’ll get there, poo’s generally take longer than wee’s. Give her time.

  • I think the best approach is to be patient and not fuss to much after all they wont be wearing nappies at 20

  • I have heard that a Poo can be harder, my daughter was ok with doing it on the Potty but took a while on the toilet, I ended up giving her a book to read on the toilet and just let her sit there.

  • Have tried rewards and praise. I have just come to the conclusion that she isnt ready for doing poos yet. Thanks so much

  • Poo training is hard, try not to react if they have an accident, reward charts are great, We reward instantly with praise and lollies for poos on the toilet or potty
