Hello!

What do you do when an old friend contacts you and wants to get together. This friend is nice enough, but we don’t have much in common.

  • Go for it! Catch up, reminisce. A coffee date won’t hurt. You might find you have more in common then you first thought and have another good friend

  • There is nothing wrong with catching up over a coffee and if you think it won’t work after that be upfront with her and just say that you both live totally different lifes with different interests.

  • Just be honest and straight forward or give it a go with an open mind.

  • Wouldn’t hurt to meet up for a coffee date. You might enjoy it and want to see more of this person.

  • yeah i think that it is up to you. maybe you might enjoy the friendship now

  • Be honest and say how you feel. Nothing worse than leading someone on. If you’re not interested say so. But remembershe may have changed and she may surprise you with her interests. She also may be trying to rekindle former friendships cause she’s lonely or changed her path. A coffee doesn’t hurt

  • I would agree to meeting for a coffee, see how that goes. If it wasn’t pleasant, I would let any other catch ups slide. But it might be a success and you could find a best friend. You don’t always need to have things in common to be friends. Opposites attract!

  • Have a catch up at a time convenient to you both- if the friendship spark is still there you will be glad you made the effort. If it isn’t- well at least you tried.
I always say that the best friends you can ask for are the friends where it doesn’t matter if you spoke yesterday or last year, you can still pick up where you left off and it doesn’t feel any different. x

  • Also, maybe this old friend just wants an occasional catch up?

  • seriously real friends are there forever, it doesnt matter if you have much in common they pick you up when you are down and put you back together and you do the same for them it doesnt matter if you saw them just last week or last year. If you dont think you can do this for this person then just tell them you are to busy with the commitments in life, kids etc at the moment.. and dont reply to there messages etc… they will soon get the hint. But be prepared for the fall out if there is any. or you could just meet up for a coffee and make it brief eg tell them you have 2 hours to spare at the most to see the real reason they want to catch up.

  • Maybe have a catch up coffee and see how it goes from there. It will be obvious to both of you if you no longer have a connection.

  • Depends whether you want to keep this friendship or not bother any more.

  • As your not keen, don’t bother.
