Hello!

I am looking for suggestions of what I could do to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary that is coming up. I don’t have a lot of money but would like to do something memorable. We don’t have family over here and most of my parents friends live too far away.

  • Take them to dinner where they got married / honeymoon or their first date.

  • Take your parents out on a picnic and make or buy a special cake for them. Them spending time with you in a pleasant setting and you listening to their tales of 50 years of marriage and beyond is worth more than a $200+ gift will ever be.

  • A scrapbook of years of marriage (and before) would be nice. That way it’s personalised by you and you’ve put in some work and time into it.
You could also throw them a little romantic dinner you’ve cooked.

  • As a Mum, I honestly LOVE all things my kids make me. It’s the thought behind it that matters. You can get a cheap photo book or canvas, or if you are in touch with the family/friends, get them to do a little video and make a collage for them ????

  • Another idea is to cook a special dinner or organise a special picnic.

  • We love getaways and they do not have to be expensive. A weekend away is always memorable for an anniversary and photos can be taken as a special keepsake.

  • I’m sure they understand you don’t have a lot of money. I’d take them out to dinner somewhere nice and special. Maybe have a small cake to cut.

  • Yes a personalized photo album is lovely. A family weekend away can be lovely too. We also have given gardener vouchers once

  • Making a photo album or getting stuff engraved or personalised can be cheaper.
