Hello!

I am re modelling my kitchen soon and have been used to a wall oven for the past 12 years.
I like it but every kitchen reno I am seeing has the oven under bench these days.
Are wall ovens out of date now?
This kitchen will be open plan so this is the reason I am torn as to which way to go.
The oven will be on display into the dining/living area.
Also, I hope this will be my ‘forever’ kitchen and am wondering if I will resent the under bench oven as I get older.
What do other ‘MoMs’ recommend?

  • We have a wall oven and I’m happy with it !

  • I’d love to know what you decided on and are you happy with your decision?

  • I have a wall oven and love it. Go for what you love, not what’s fashionable, because fashion trends change often.

  • i think it alwase comes down to kitchen layout. sometimes they are better on wall rather than below. can be very good having on wall especially if you have kids or bake alot

  • You can find some really nice under bench ovens however wall ovens are very practical

  • Wall oven!!! So much easier! We have moved into a house with under bench oven and I don’t like it at all.

  • wall over is better if you ahve kids so they cant burn themsleves

  • Wall oven all the way! I wish I had the option to renovate my kitchen, I would get rid of the under bench one in a heartbeat

  • Wall

  • We changed from under bench to wall because hubby has a bad back and couldn’t lift my casserole dish out easily. Now its easier for me to see how my cooking is going, and the stainless surround on our oven matches in well with our other appliances. The space under bench is used for storing tins and containers I don’t use as frequently. Amazing how that little bit less bending has helped.

  • wall as I have young kids!

  • I love my wall oven! My house was built in 1987 so it was probably in vogue then. We have a new stainless steel one in though.

  • Thank you for posting this question, I have the same dilemma myself. I want an oven that does not have gaps down the side so cleaning is easier.

  • Wall oven still is what I loved best. Have not got one at moment and miss it but renting at present. My wall oven reasons are on eye level can see how things going, no bending down, easy to get out when cooked.easier to clean too. Get coloured one and make it feature!
    choice is yours

  • I am excitedly looking forward to going from a stand alone oven to an in the wall oven – higher and easier to clean – I am glad you asked – I will be reading through the comments too and making an educated decision.

  • I hope you find one suitable for your needs

  • under the bench sounds really good

  • I think the under bench is the way to go. alot less cleaning and things getting trapped down the side of the stove

  • I much prefer wall ovens – always had one and good for keeping little hands away from hot surfaces
