We are in need of a new washing machine. Our current one doesn’t wash our blacks properly and has started to leak so we are sucking it up and buying a new one. We had a look yesterday and the guy said Fisher & Paykel is the best brand but that is what we have now and we aren’t overly impressed. We are thinking we need a 10kg and I don’t care about all of the special features that I will never use (wifi etc)
Any advice please?

  • We recently bought a front loader and loving it! Don’t buy an old fashioned top loader. You save on power and it handles delicates and woollens beautifully.

  • We have had a top loader for many many years but is starting to break just now I would go simple but not too cheap and deffinantly water and energy efficient

  • I’m happy with my Samsung, front loader 7,5 kg. I have it since nearly 10 years, never had a repair and it’s till going strong.

  • I have an LG front washer and it is wonderful.

  • Ok so front loaders are super popular but they take ages to wash which can be hard if you’re super busy and there is no adding something to the load once it’s on it’s on. We’ve had a few brands with no issues I’d personally stay away from Samsung but apart from that I’d more go with what suits your needs.

  • We have a german made bosch front loader. Only had it a year but so far its EXCELLENT

  • My washing machine repairman has a Fisher & Paykel and highly recommends them.

  • Get a front loader – the water/money saving is amazing !

  • Product Review is a good website with reviews by owners and users of the products reviewed. Choice magazine can also provide useful tested reviews by experts.

  • We have a LG Direct Drive 7kg Front loader and love it. Only use a few of the washing options all the time – Delicate, Quick, Wool. I would’ve bought the bigger one if we could’ve afford it at the time.

  • I love my Miele – expensive but worth the investment

  • We love our Kleenmaid as it has good rating and is quick and quiet and delivers clean clothes.

  • I have a Kleenmaid front loader and love it.

  • We have an Electrolux 5 kg, front loader, bought in 2005. So far we’ve never had a single problem.

  • We have a Bosch front loader and it’s great. Had it for about 7 years now and still going well. I do a load every weekday and 3 or 4 loads on the weekend so it gets used a lot. Plenty of cycles to choose from and lots of others features.

  • I have a fisher and paykel and it’s fantastic

  • I have a 10 kilo top loader with no agitator. It was around the $1000 mark. It is approx 6 years old and already needed a repair. I would suggest to decide if you want a top or front loader and then look at how much you want to spend. The google reviews on that model. Choice magazine have reviews on most things but you might have to pay for the report.

  • We have a Fisher and Paykel 5.5kg I think it is. We have had it for close to 10 years now with no issues. The agitator has a couple of broken pieces but it still washes ok
