Forum What age do you think is good to put your toddler in a big bed?

Our daughter, who is 21 months old, I am thinking of putting her in a big girl’s bed.
She currently sleeps in her cot in our room. We are thinking of putting her in with her sister in her room soon.

What age do you think is the best age to do this and how do I make it easy for her going from a cot to big girls bed?

  • Personally I would wait until after she is 2. If she is in a room with her sister she might transition faster but children actually like the security of a cot to few comfortable.

  • We went at about 2 years for each of our kids. We let them choose a set of sheets and a duvet cover for their bed. And we accepted that we’d probably get a few night time visits for a few weeks. We found they settled quickly.

  • An exciting time! If she’s keen to sleep in a big girl bed then go for it!

  • yeah this is a good age. i reckon that she will love it. hopefully the transistion is easy

  • We moved from cot to toddler bed at 18 months – 2 years. My daughter has just turned 4 and still in a toddler bed. We will probably move her to a big bed soon.

  • I think 2 is a good age to switch a toddler to a big bed. I did it with my 2 boys and they were fine with it.
