Hello!

I would like some advice on starting solids – I have a 5 month old who I am about to start on solids, what are the best foods for starting solids?

  • I started mine on Farex with a little breast milk. Gradually built up the amount then started adding different foods to the cereal

  • I started my little one with baby rice cereal, I think called Cerelac, or avocado mashed.

  • Rice cereal is a good one to start with I then moved on to all types of fruits and vegies puréed, then purred meat casseroles chicken, lamb and fish, we also do all types of finger foods. :-) good luck

  • Soft cooked rice and mashed vegetables & pureed fruits like bananas & avocados are good options.

  • Rice cereal is thought to be safest as s has less chance o an allergic reaction. Also things like pureed pear, apple, cooked carrot, bananas pureed and yogurt.

  • dry toast yogurt custard .

  • hope you went ok with starting your lo on food

  • cereal is great. hope you found some thing good

  • Lots of advice here, I hope your journey was smooth.

  • Hope it all went well went you started solids.

  • Farex Baby cereal, mashed up bananas, mashed pumpkin.

  • Hope you were successful went introducing solids and all is going well

  • a lot of helpful tips Hope everything worked out well for you

  • Neither of my kids liked farex or other rice cereals but a lot of people start their babies on that. Mashed/ pureed fruit and veges are good, custard, weet bix or vita brix made up with warm formula or expressed breast milk, or look at the baby food in the supermarket. I used to buy Rafferty’s Garden organic baby food which my son absolutely loved

  • There is rice cereal that u start them on!

  • Veggies victimized… Fruit purees…. Mash banana

  • Buy one of the mesh fruit bags or mash fruit up =)

  • Mix it up and be creative good luck =)

  • I gave my little man farex cereal, mashed veggies potatoes, carrots, peas, sweet potato, broccoli, cauliflower etc

  • My son didn’t like rice cereal at all, and rejected home cooked veggies at the start, so we fed him commercially packaged pureed fruits and veggies. We chose the ones that only had natural ingredients
