This is going to sound strange but I don’t have any. My Dad didn’t leave our family until I was 14 but I can’t recall any moments before then at all.
With my children, I only see them celebrate with my husband, their bonus Dad, which is an absolute joy as he is fully engaged with all of our children. I do recall the early years with their biological father but the memories, from my perspective, are perhaps not as naively pleasant as they might be for the children.
Breakfast is bed and gifts are common. I usually plan an outing where we go out together as a family, usually a hike and a picnic, just for something special.
Just making my Dad feel special is my best memory of Father’s Day. We tend to take each other for granted most days, so it’s really lovely to give Dad lots of attention.
I think my most special Father’s Day memories are the first ones my partner had with our kids. And I’ve just added my sons first to the list. There’s just something about it
My parents didn’t really “do” mothers and fathers day. So I love to try and do something nice for my partner from the kids.
The kids will make cards, sometimes we bake. Mostly it’s just about spending some quality time together as family.
Myself, with my father, absolutely nothing.
I started celebrating Father’s Day with my husband, once our daughter was born. We always make it a special day. When my daughter was younger it was more handmade gifts. Now we buy something we know my husband likes. For example this Father Day he got a Wasgij puzzle. He’s crazy about them! Then we have a special breakfast together, we play board games, we go walking….
