Hello!

I’d love to know what everyone’s cooking for dinners to give me some inspiration. Our regular meal rotation has become a bit boring and I’m hoping to hear what real homes are having.

  • This time of the year I love tossed salads with produce from the garden with a variety of things like a steak, prawns, cold meat, eggs or salmon etc. So simple and easy and different dressings keep it interesting. We love spaghetti & meatballs, most pasta dishes, or chicken in stir fries.

  • I like to use a bunch of healthy recipes I have printed out. Some are ones that I have found on here such as chicken and rice pie and slow cook sausage casserole, others I have picked up from taste.com.au and weightloss.com.au. Stroganoff is great, spag bol is a favourite, cottage pies, ravioli (using store bought), sausage and baby spinach – just add some diced tomato, garlic and herbs. Those are a few easy go to’s but I have lots!

  • I think variation is the key. Sometimes we don’t know what to cook as if we have a mental blank, but really it’s a matter of what in the cupboard and in the fridge or freezer and what is on special this season. It may help to write down and make a list of the different things you’re cooking and brainstorm with your family what you would like to add list.

  • We also like to cook food that can be served up on platters and then people can select what they want to eat. We particularly like this way of eating because it eliminates waste. We reuse leftovers for lunches and we also freeze leftovers for meals that can used at a later time.

  • I am a huge fan of stir fry meals because it is so easy to add lots of vegetable to meals and of course stir fry meals are super tasty too. We also cook different cuisines from around the world to add flavour and fun to meal times. The bonus is meal times are never ever boring!

  • Oh i definitely hear you! Things can get boring fast when we get stuck in a rut or routine and just go to our usual meals. We do things like salmon for dinner then if there is left overs for the next night, we turn them into sushi bowls so its something new

  • I tend to cook with the oven a lot. Not having a great deal of time means chucking in a roast chicken or roast lamb with potatoes and veggies is super easy but it does get boring. I’m hoping the change of season will bring some barbecues and cold salads etc to the mix.

  • I love home made nachos. As I tend to eat more salads than vegetables it is something I tend to have a lot. It is healthy and so easy to whip up. We quite often do make your own nacho night where I lay everything out and everyone makes their own version from the wineries to I chop up.

  • Lightly floured crispy fish tacos with cabbage slaw, recipetineats honey garlic chicken breast but cubed and served with rice, fresh cucumber and carrot, Lebanese bread pizza, arayas, chickpea salad, stir frys, taco bowls. Our toddler is going through a phase where rice is a hit and everything else is a risk, so I try to make meals that I can serve with rice or just salad for me. I live by everything Nagi cooks
