Hello!

A lot of our meals and snacks are messy and I am ok with this but sometimes I need to give them a snack or a meal that doesn’t involve much preparation and that they can eat in the pram or on the carpet without me having to spend the next hour cleaning. What are your go-to non messy snacks for toddlers and pre-schoolers?

  • Cheese sticks, sausages, cut up fruit, slices of cucumber, strips of toasted bread, roast chicknuts or roast flava beans, roast coconut flakes, smashed pea balls, sweet potato chips

  • Lightly steamed veggies, thinly sliced apples,

  • Mine would be fruits – bananas, grapes, apples, mandarins ect… Ones that you just need to throw out the peel, seed/s or nothing at all. Either that, or when I haven’t really been too bothered to stock up on a range of fruits, some crackers, biscuits or chips do the job as well =)

  • The raffertys range are great, limited mess too

  • Cut up pieces of fruit, cut up veggies, cheese and crackers, yoghurt, Arnotts shapes are easy for a not so healthy snack. Cook up,some veggie or fruit muffins. Mini quiches….

  • Sometimes it’s jus looking at new ways to prepare or cut old ideas 🙂 cutting banana loaf into little squares, etc.

  • Rice cakes, crackers, veggie sticks, grapes, berries, fruit loops are all great ideas that worked for my toddlers.

  • Roasted chickpeas. Healthy and interesting for kids. Or coconut chips.

  • I forgot about cheese and yoghurt buttons. They are always a hit in this house.
Yoghurt and bananas are always messy with my two, even with a towel, and I am not a fan of squeeze pouches, but the other ideas are great. I was getting sick of sultanas!

  • carrot sticks, celery sticks, sultanas, and crackers

  • We always keep a packet of sultanas and dried yoghurt buttons for our little ones. It goes well into a tupperware container in the handbag for emergency snacks on the go

  • Cheese I cut in “fingers” from a big block, bananas (the little “lady finger” ones are a good toddler size, yoghurt in squeezy pouches you can fill yourself – less mess than a bowl of yoghurt (…usually!) I usually put down a drop mat (sheet or towel) and get my son to sit on it if he’s not outside or at the table. We call it a picnic and he’s happy to sit still (…mostly 😉 )
