Hello!

I have a whole lot of text books from University that I don’t want to keep but don’t want to just throw in the bin. Any suggestions of how to pass them on or sell them? Anyone know of places that could use them? I did a psychology and management degree. Most books are 6 to 3 years old.

  • I would donate them to a University library.

  • Probably too old to sell now. I would just donate.

  • IF there’s a University noticeboard – either physical or digital – place an ad there to sell the books.

  • If you’re my husband you put them in a box and keep them forever. If you’re a normal person you can put them on ebay or donate them to an op shop.

  • Check your place of study, they often has places where you can sell your used text books. Or go on Facebook, there are also pages on there where you can offload your old books

  • I have sold some of my husband’s law books on a website – StudentVIP
It’s for buying and selling second hand uni books

  • You can donate them to charity or try to resell them perhaps!

  • A lot of schools and universities have places that sell 2nd hand text books. There’s even places online and you can find some on Facebook

  • I usually donate them to local libraries or the thrift stores, or just give them to someone you know who might be interested in having them…

  • if they are not current anymore to sell them, then think about donating them to a highschool or charity. Someone might read it and become interested in learning more about the subject.

  • Join a Buy Sell and Swap in your area on Facebook you can sell anything there.
    Join Gumtree and sell there.

  • Our uni book shop buys them back so students can buy cheaper second hand copies. Yours may be too old for this but maybe if you were just going to toss them out, offer them to your local library or hospital? Maybe the hospital could keep them as points of call

  • Hubby tried to sell his on the uni website and co-op books site but unsuccessfully. Unfortunately unis only recommend the latest version andmit may be a case of one paragraph in the whole book changed! Given the age of your books I’d suggest they probably wont sell but you could always try gumtree (can list for freemon gumtree too) or look for a local 2nd hand bookshop. Lifeline often do an annual book fair so they’ll probably taken them as a donation too

  • I asked a local uni whether I could donate them.

  • mine collect dust… maybe they will be worth something in a few years. didn’t have internet when I studied

  • i remember what it was like to be a struggling student and not being able to afford all the books i needed. i usually donated them to a student i knew couldnt afford to buy them

  • You could try University book shops as I remember they do sell second hand books as I remember. Also second hand book shops or on internet may be a good idea to check out.Salvation Army also do book sale once a year. Depends whether you wish to sell or donate them. And finding appropriate resources to meet your needs. Hope this adds some insight.

  • I donAted them to a small country library

  • Place an advertisement on gumtree, ebay or at the university notice board to sell or give away to a good home.

  • Thanks it’s handy to know specific websites! I know what you mean about not knowing if you should keep them or not… I went through and kept the ones I had a particular interest in or that were core information. But many subjects and books were electives and so I know I won’t be referring to them over the Internet!
