I’ve heard that being on a device is not as detrimental as once thought, but I would still set time limits.

My almost 3 yr old already plays games on a tablet. But naturally this screen time is limited.

I’d really discourage computer games. For recreation it translates to far too much screen time, the child is inactive and passive, can develop eye problems until the eyes stabilize around 15 – 20 years of age, meaning they develop many issues with health and weight from playing games. Even with the “educational games” there are usually far better ways of learning, especially for young children.

yeah go for it! i do have to say that, be wary of age limits. for example a lot of LITTLE children play Black ops 3 but there is an age limit of 15 lol. the only problem that i would advise you of is OTHER PEOPLE ONLINE. They get into games and swear and say the most disgusting stuff so be wary of those interactions. Only let them chat to their real life friends, through the game.

Hubby bought a PlayStation years ago, the kids were 7 and 4, hubby said it would be good fir their hand eye co ordination. The 7 year old enjoyed it, the 4 year old struggled. And of course, dad was the best because he spent the most time on it :/

I would begin when they start showing an interest in playing. If you can have a look at Minecraft- it’s an open world exploration game. There are 2 options in the game- Creative, where they have access to everything they need and can build whatever they want, and Survival, where resources are more limited and you need to harvest things to survive (and you can also die, but you respawn sans anything you had in your inventory).

My 3 year old has been playing games on my old iphone for a little while now. She picks them up very quickly.
