Hello!

My daughter is starting school next year and although she has been at daycare since 7 months I have not had to pack a lunch box. Which lunch boxes do you recommend?

  • I always loved the Bento style lunch boxes

  • We love the bbox lunch boxes. Whilst they are expensive they have handy separate compartments and tend to keep foods cooler for longer

  • I do love the bento box from hippo blue! But buy on sale!

  • We love the Benton boxes. Bbox do them but they are fairly pricey. We found some similar at kmart though which were great

  • Love the bbox lunch boxes because you can separate the different snacks and pack a sandwich, some sweets, cheese, crackers etc all while keeping them compartmentalised.

  • Simple cheap old plastic one will do. It’s only kindergarten. My kids had Bananas in pyjamas lunchboxes for kindy

  • You can get them for a reasonable price from big w or kmart. The hard plastic type ones have a bit more durability and less likely to squish the food inside than the softer style lunch boxes. You will likely find squished banana in the bottom of your kids bag, so keep an eye out on the days they take a banana.

  • Give foods that remain fresh for a long time. Pasta with veggies, an apple/orange, slow cooked meat and noodles etc. My son’s pre-school suggested us to choose food from a wide range of varieties and colour so that it gives them energy for the whole day.

  • We always put a variety of products – a sandwich, some fruit, packet of chips, veg sticks and a popper

  • I still think bento type is the best. You have them coming with little pots and lids which would solve the problem when the lunchbox drops

  • I’ve seen a lot of teachers say not to use bento boxes because if the kids drop the lunch box all the food is gone (obviously unless food is wrapped)

  • Orange or mandrrine segments, vegemite sandwich with crusts cut off, very small tub of yoghurt, watermelon slices, can cut with cookie cutter to give shapes of animals or hearts & dtars

  • we love our bento box!
