  • If the vacuum doesn’t work, you could try sweeping it up with a broom.

  • I always think that hand brushing works better then the vacuum !

  • Either vacuum, brush it out, or use a squeegee.

  • How often do you brush your dog?? There used to be a special glove in a mail order book that you removed the hair from your pet by simply patting your pet with it on your hand. i can’t remember who the supplier was. I woulld try the gloves that have little rubber “raised dots” on them to pat your dogs or cats with. That should at least reduce the amount that goes on your rug. A friend of mine with shaggy carpet that only covered part of the floor she actually trained her dog to not go on the rug at all. I was dubvious until I witnessed it a few times. Other than that, as others have suggested good vacuum cleaners have attachments which are good at removing pet hair.

  • Dyson DC 23 with motorhead. Bloody brilliant for dog hair, is the best thing I’ve ever tried

  • We have 2 huskies and use a Bissell PetVac. It is height-adjustable and has a power head, not certain how it would work for long pile but has been excellent for our bedroom carpets and short pile rugs.

  • Wet rubber gloves are great for removing pet hair from carpets and furniture.

  • Use some of these great idea’s and then I would roll up that rug or put it in a room the dog is not allowed. Buy a dog friendly rug that can be vacuumed easily.

  • Get one of the cheap flat green scourer pads from the supermarket wet and wipe, i use this on my rugs and woollen jumper to get all the things off that normal cleaning doesnt. it takes a little effort but the rugs come up a treat.

  • good luck. i hope this job isn’t too hard for you!

  • I have a powerhead for my vacuum which is awesome at getting the dog fur out of my shag rug, I’d be lost without it!

  • Put on a pair of wet rubber gloves…. the dish washing kind….and run your hands over and through the carpet the hair sticks….then vacuum.

  • An heavy duty brush. Then you collect the hair with your hands in a big ball. I’ve got a Labrador Retriever and his hair is everywhere! :-)

  • vac what you can
take outside and beat it (the rug, not the dog lol)
my friend uses a dustpan brush and hangs it on the washing line and brushes it out

  • Dyson vaccums have a pet attachment where you can vacuum the dog. This would reduce the amount of shedding around the house. My experience with dog hair anywhere is you never get rid of it we stopped letting our dogs inside when we had a baby. Shagpile rugs are one of those nice things you seem to be able to have but they never stay clean and people inevitably throw them out

  • Sticky roller brush or a Dyson vacuum

  • Use Lint Rollers for your clothes – works a TREAT =) or big thick sticky tape, wrap arounf ur hand and wipe it off =)

  • Another advertisement. When we first got our Dyson, we had a long haired Chihuahua, honestly never had hair! Maybe try that? Or sticky tape (I have an issue with sticky tape!) :P. Let me know what you ended up doing and if it worked :).

  • This is going to sound like a paid advertisement LOL but we’ve had a lot of success with the schticky, we use the comb to brush out the hair then roll it out =)
