What is the secret of good looks? - Mouths of Mums

Hello!

It might sound silly but I seem to hear only two kinds of answers. It is either: “Oh, just moisturize in the evening, drink enough water and you’ll look like a goddess” or “I got like 200 procedures done and people compliment my nAtUrAl BeAuTy, how silly of them”. What is the actual, practical and HONEST advice for looking good and polished that you ladies can share?

  • In addition to a healthy, balanced diet, staying hydrated, good hygiene, and having a good skin and haircare routine, I think learning what colours, styles and silhouettes suit your body type goes a long way in putting together a curated wardrobe that is timeless and flattering. Once I paid attention to my face shape, it really helped when shopping for sunglasses or deciding on a haircut and style that suited me!

  • I believe in good sleep, less stress and a good skin routine what makes any women feel good with that radiating skin.

  • Accepting yourself and being happy in yourself. Focusing on how everyone looks nowadays has gotten to a disturbing level. General presentation (Hair clean, nails trimmed ), clean clothes and personal hygiene are more to the point. We are all beautiful, naturally. .

  • I believe the secret to good looks is to love yourself (care for body, mind, and spirit), be comfortable in yourself (natural looks you can’t change, your personality is you-nique) and love on others (be kind, courteous, and selfless).

  • Your definition of good looks might be different to everyone else’s. To me it’s having a happy outlook on life, whether or not it is, drink plenty of water and clean, tone and moisturise your skin. I find if you’re happy within yourself it shows on the outside. Also, get enough sun daily and exercise. Please don’t go in for all the procedures. Once you start you can’t stop by the looks of people I’ve seen and you can always tell if they’ve had something done. Just go al la natural. I use natural collagen on my skin and some sun spots I had have disappeared. I’m always referring people to collagen. But you still need to moisturise too and I use rose oil or Sea Buckthorn oil. Everything as natural as possible.

  • Besides all the good things already mentioned of a healthy diet, care for your body skin and hair, exercise and being outdoors, the most important thing in my opinion is to be happy and content within yourself. When you’re happy and content, balanced and grateful you will shine from the inside out and you will be beautiful no matter the looks.

  • Honestly… Look after your smile and smile often. Some one who smiles instantly looks far more attractive than someone who is walking along with a frown or scowl on their face. Taking good care of your teeth is therefore very important. Just be a nice person and allow that to show,

  • Keeping your gut healthy!! Hands down one of the most important things you can do. Glow from the inside out. Gut health is eating properly really. Fibre, protein, fats, carbs, all of it. Hydration too. Moving your body helps heaps as well, even just getting your blood flowing. I also think skincare should stay pretty minimal. A lot of it really comes down to what you eat

  • Along with my comments below about staying hydrated, getting plenty or rest and moisturising; I agree with ChiWren’s comments about health starting from the inside. It really is on point and looking after the body and the mind does impact on overall health and appearance. Taking care of the body and mind is essential.

  • I think having a healthy diet and life style goes a long way. My skin and hair look so much better when I’m eating right and being physically active. I also have a morning and nightly skincare routine which keeps my skin moisturized and happy. But health starts from the inside

  • It depends on the definition of what is considered good looks? Is this healthy and well nourished skin? I care for my skin by staying well hydrated because it really does make a difference. The other thing I do is get plenty of rest and also moisturise my skin with Vitamin E cream.

  • I’m assuming you’re referring to physical look, more specifically skin?
My skincare routine is based on my mood but what I found works well is the below:
Step 1. Wash your face am/pm. Once a week, exfoliate to remove dead skin
Step 2. A non alcoholic toner
Step 3. A serum, I like the one with retinol it helps to clear the skin
Step 4. Moisturiser and massage your face. Check online. Facial massage has reduced my puffy eyes. No expensive skincare could.
Step 5. Always apply SPF no matter the weather.

  • I find using a good serum in the morning very helpful and using make up that is light and not heavy on my skin. I also try and have make up free days and stay out of the sun (or wear sun screen). I also take a collagen protein powder which helps with your skin and I believe this to be a game changer.
