Hello!

Just curious, my 6 year old goes to bed at 7.30pm and my twin 3 year olds go to bed at 7pm, just wondering what other mums do with their children and bed times?

  • My 7yr old goes to bed between 8 and 8.30pm and is usually up between 5 and 6am, sometimes earlier (on school days)
My 11yr old goes to bed between 8 and 8.30pm and is up around 7.15am (on school days)
My 15 and 16yr old go to bed between 10-11pm, sometimes later (on schooldays) and up around 7.15am

  • Same age same time! :D

  • I have an almost 10yr old, almost 8yr old and a 5yr old and they are sent to bed at 7:30 but they don’t usually go to sleep until 8ish

  • I think your bedtimes are good for the children’s ages. You can let them stay up a little later as they get older.

  • My foster children went to bed at 7pm – this worked well for them and for me. As they get older I would consider stretching the time out to a bit later but cut off at 9.30pm for a teenager

  • Yeah we’re the same. I’ve read that kids get the best quality sleep before midnight so I’m a bit of a sleep nazi getting them into bed. Plus, I think that parents need some quality adult time once the kids have gone to bed!

  • 7-7:30 lol they always try to get that extra time by desperately needing drinks, toilets, goodnight kisses etc.

  • When my kids were young, they used to sleep roughly the same time as they used to yell out ” Good night ” across the bedrooms and it was so cute. It is convenient for the parents too I think to have it as a routine on a specific time .

  • Awesome very similar times :)

  • My miss almost 3 goes to be at 8. And gets up at 7

  • My 3 year old is generally in bed by 7:30pm and asleep by 8pm. We start the bath and story routine at about 7pm.

  • My three and four year old boys are in bed at 7 and miss 11 months is usually in bed by 6.30. Am thinking of moving it back by half an hour because I have been getting up at 5.30 am for the last two weeks and I’m not a very good morning person

  • Our 2 year old goes to bed at 8pm and wakes up around 6:15am. We do that because both my husband and myself work full-time so we don’t get home until a bit after 6pm during the week, by the time we get dinner ready, eat, have a bath and read some stories it’s right around 8pm. It works for her and us but I imagine it wouldn’t work for anyone.

  • My 6 year old niece doesn’t go to bed until at least 8.30 and is rarely asleep before 9! Doesn’t matter what time she is in bed, she will fart around for ages and not sleep!

  • My daughter had bedtime of 730 up till the age of 13 then went to 830

  • My daughter is turning 6 she goes to bed no later than 7.30pm mostly just after 7pm.

  • Your bed times sound good to me! They get longer as they get older.

  • for all my kids who are 3,5 and 7 we start getting ready for bed at 6.30pm. shower, milk and quite time and snuggles the youngest walks into his room and falls asleep about 7.15pm. the other two are ready anywhere between 7.30 and 8pm. daylight savings through a spanner in the works for a week or so. but the kids have now adjusted.
For us quite time can be reading a book or we have found watching neighbours( we tape it and watch it about 7pm) seems to make them sleepy, its usually a safe story line and they find it a little boring compared to the kiddie shows but it chills them out. Soon as its over before the singing starts we walk them to their rooms and start reading a book and with in minutes they are out of it..

  • Trying to follow a 7pm to 7am sleep routine but doesn’t always work out that way

  • My daughter is now 13 and goes to bed around 8:30 during the week. She then wakes up just before 6 a.m..
When she was 6 years old she was going to bed around 8-8:30, waking up around 7 a.m.
