Hello!

What is better.. top loading washing machines or front loading? I’ve always used top loading but the water and energy savings are drawing me towards a front loader. Also, do front loaders tangle clothes much?

  • Top loader all the way for me. I remember when I was 17 and at a bfs place putting a load of 2ashing on in their front loader but forgot to add my work clothes to the front loader. I had to wait 2 hours for the machine to finish just so I could wash my clothes. From then it’s only ever been top loader as you can add stuff if needed. Washing the clothes just fine.

  • Definitely front loader!

  • My front loader washes my clothes better then my previous top loaders ever did.

  • I always used a top loader ,front loaders look wrong

  • Cool! Really interesting comments read on this! Good to know!

  • I went from a top loader to a front loader and have been super happy with my decision. The only down side that I’ve experienced is once you’ve put a load of washing on and you find that stray sock that didn’t make it in……my washer is capable of being stopped and having the door opened to chuck it in….some machines (however more expensive) do have that function available. As for tangling clothes….I have had no issues with this.

  • A friend with a front loader said it crushes your clothes. I don’t like that you have to bend down to the floor to use it and can’t add that extra sock you locate after the cycle has started. I have a top loader with no agitator. It’s awesome and but as it takes 10kg is massive. If you want a nice design in your laundry people always opt for the front loader and wall mount a dryer about it as saves space or the 2 can go side by side under a bench which can be used for sorting folding etc. I don’t have that option. Front loader use less water than top loader but I think the cycle may be longer. Only prob I’ve heard about them mechanically is when the seal on the front goes it leaks.

  • I’ve always had top loader. Front loaders lock in so you can’t add washing and take a looong time.

  • I prefer the top loader, I feel like the front loaders have more issues,

  • l use a top loader and have for many years and its all good.

  • Front loader is kinder on your clothes. A top loader can be used for handbasin or pre soaking clothes, and you can add clothes in once the wash has started and the cycle time is quicker. A front loader is more water efficient and better for storage in small places.

  • the front loader washing machine is very water efficient

  • Top LOader!!!

  • i like the top loader as im constantly adding to my wash

  • I’ve switched from a top loader to a front loader, it does take longer for the cycle but uses less detergent, a lot less water, the clothes come out cleaner and it is gentler on the clothes.

  • I prefer top loader it’s better for my back because I don’t have to bend down

  • I have always had a top loader

  • i pre fer top loaders as u can interrupt them if needed

  • I think front loaders clean better! And also love the extra bench space to of the machine!

  • Got my 1st front loader last yr and haven’t looked back. Far more economical water and I think lower wise, softer on clothes and a more thorough wash.
