Hello!

I’d love to know what everyone is making this year. I’m not hosting so am thinking up some sides to bring along. So far I’m making mac and cheese, focaccia, and maybe something sweet. Are you going all out?

  • Love seeing what others have planned! We’re having a spread of bbq meats. A glazed ham, brisket burgers with slaw, potato salad, Mac and cheese, fresh prawns, salads, cookies and a pav. I decided last minute to make some mini cheese, bacon and chive cobs. They turned out excellent. Keen for tomorrow!

  • The most exciting thing about this year is cooking new recipes. I have found some recipes that I am so keen to try out for Christmas. We are looking forward to eating a lot of fresh and delicious seafood and using the seafood in recipes; including ones on this site!

  • There is only our daughters and partners and our grandson for Christmas we don’t actually do Christmas Lunch we do a Breakfast instead which works well for all of us as they have other places to go for lunch like inlaws.

  • We arent hosting either this year which is nice! But given christmas is usually always a warm day, things like salads, cold meats, prawns etc all make fantastic easy choices when it comes to preparing something for chirmstas. Often they can be done in advance a day or two which makes it better

  • We are going to have a whole lot of fun this year and go with a mix of tradition and fusion and also adding in some new recipes and new foods. it is so exciting and also fun to mix it up and try different foods. It certainly is not stale and boring!

  • For breakfast we are having a classic bacon, eggs, toast, hash browns, fruit, pancakes.
For lunch we have roast options such as chicken and pork, ham, roast veg, potato bake, cauliflower bake, assorted salads (potato salad, pasta salad, caesar salad)
Dinner is usually leftovers, and dessert is always a classic pavlova or triffle!

  • We are extremely traditional and start the day by having breakfast together, ham, eggs, mango, cherries and lychees. Lunch is roast turkey, pork, potatoes, pumpkin, broccoli and cauliflower with stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce and apple sauce. Dessert is pudding with custard and ice cream. I’m afraid I’m so used to it that it wouldn’t feel like Christmas without it lol

  • My husband is on a liquid diet, so that places some limitations on us. Usually I just do a buffet style thing – freshly baked rolls, cold meats, cheese, condiments, some snacky things like party pies and sausage rolls (yes, we have youngish kids) and then some mini choc bars for dessert. Everyone likes it
