Loved reading the answers to this question as I was actually wondering that myself for when my boy starts school.
Hoping it doesn’t get too complicated and the people he wants to be there are able to come.
Hoping your child gets a good turn out and has all of the people they want there.

January is hard! I’d wait until school is back so everyone is around, however if its for a child it’s important to do a party in the actual day

My daughters birthday is Jan 25th. She had her 21st earlier this year. I sent out save the date in November. This was the only year that a planned that early, usually Id give 2 maybe 3 weeks notice.

my sons bday is jan 8. we usually hold it on weekend as we both work weekdays. if you have handed out the invites early December, parents have fair warning. If many people go away, its always fun to have a small family get together with a lot of games. or skip a year of parties and let the kid choose a zoo or adventure the immediate family can go on..kids choice

I’d say anytime after the first week in January. I feel generally that’s wheh people are back from holidays & it’s well before the start of the rush of preparing for backe to school.

Just do it on a weekend that suits you, you can’t please everyone

Send out invitations earlier or by phone with gifs that you can download that are animated by phone so they’re bound to get it

You can send out invitations in early December – ie well ahead of time. Or else do it just after school goes vack.

A bit of all the above. We delay the birthday party with friends until February when everyone’s back from holidays. We have a family birthday on his actual birthday in January though with a little cake and a present for him. We don’t give him another present for his birthday party though.

If the party is for a chil I would definitely have it the last week before school holidays start as 1 all there friends will be there. 2 the following year they might have new kids in there class so they don’t really know them and 3. Both my granddaughters birthdays are in January so at there parties this year my 10 year old granddaughter only 1 friend out of 10 invited turned up it was sad and my 7 year old granddaughter 5 turned up. So next year it will be in December before school holidays start.

I know lots of people who have birthdays in January and generally there’s no problem. They hold their birthdays on the actual day or the weekend before or after, and still get a good crowd.

As a school teacher we often see families hand out their January invites before school finishes and the parties are often after the 10th Jan when most people have returned from holidays.

Oh what a dilemma! I’ve never had to deal with it. I gave a friend who’s twins were born in Christmas Eve, they have their birthday celebrations on the first Saturday in December to avoid clashes with Christmas

Depends on the age of the child – for younger kids, I’d have it a couple of weeks late when school is back. For older kids, it may be easier to suss out the availability of friends.

My sons birthday is the 12th and mine is the 16th of Jan. I sent out invitations for my LO’s party early November so everyone had a decent amount of notice and could plan with or around if necessary

My husband used to have his birthday in full summer (July) when we lived in Europe. He says that generally in July he was away camping with his family, so they were celebrating the birthday with the family while away. And then, before school started again, the month after, they were having a little party with my husband’s friends back home.

We have this dilemma when she was little we’d have the party when her close friends weren’t on holidays as close to the Birthday as possible. I’d see what they want and work with that.

The bonus with a family party and then a friend party is 2 parties! 🙂

This is a hard one, and while I don’t have anyone in my immediate family with a January birthday, we have a few friends who do, and it’s always hard for them to organise anything. Usually I think they do a family cake and coffee/ easy BBQ on or very close to the birthday and then a bit later on have a get together with friends. This seems to work for them, and more people are able to come when it’s a bit later on

We have birthdays during holidays too and we have small family celebration on the day and then delay a party with friends for a little later.
