Hello!

I was wondering what is the best age to give your child a pillow to us in bed. When should I give my toddler a pillow?

  • Your baby should sleep without a pillow until they are at least 2 years old. Even then, the pillow they use should be small and firm. There is no rush to introduce a pillow, either. Consider waiting until you move your child to a toddler bed or even longer.

  • My little ones started to use pillows around the age of 1. Started using them of a day during there day sleep. And wanted one of a night. Most of the time they end up between there legs. Now nearly 5, the pillow still ends up between his legs. Depends on your child and if they request a pillow. I would use a flat pillow while they are still young

  • there are soft, low pillows for tots – seek some recommendation from a good bed shop

  • you don’t need to give them one at all, I think it’s more of a comfort thing. But as soon as they have established neck muscles I think it’s fine to give them one.

  • My daughter only got a pillow when she moved into a big girl bed.

  • We gave our children a special pillow for toddlers when they transitioned to a big bed. It was only an inch or so thick.

  • When they moved into a single bed, 2 years old. I also bought a “my first pillow”, I don’t remember what brand but it isn’t as big and it’ll be a gentle transition on their necks,

  • When they moved into a bed. All 3 were over 2 years.

  • I have my son one at 20 months. He loves it!

  • My daughter is 19 months and loves her pillow.

  • when did you decide to?

  • Hope you found the answer you were looking for.

  • When did you decide to give one to yours?

  • We gave our daughter a pillow when she went into her “Big Bed” at age 2

  • Mine got them as soon as they were out of their cot. You can get kids one too.

  • If you are looking for a pillow, Tontine make a ‘my first pillow’

  • I gave both my kids pillows when they were moved to their big beds, and while my daughter has always used hers, my 2.5 yr old son will still sleep with his head below the pillow and not use it. I never understood why cot sheet sets came with a pillow case.

  • How did it go Hope you sorted it out

  • Though they’re often sold with crib bedding sets, pillows are not recommended for children under 2. Kids that small can easily suffocate while using one.

Actually, older kids don’t need pillows either. Parents often think a pillow will provide their child with extra comfort, not realizing that their child was doing fine without it.

If you want to introduce a pillow, it’s best to wait until your toddler moves from a crib to a bed. But if you want to give him one while he’s still sleeping in a crib, go with one that’s small (the size of an airline pillow) and firm. Stay away from feather pillows, which are too soft, can set off allergies, and can smother a child if his head sinks into it while he’s sleeping.

  • Even go to big w, Kmart, target etc and they sell infant pillows best of luck :D
