Hello!

Any one know where I can purchase a good baby pillow? And at what age should we be using it? My sons got a flat head at back of his head and his over 12 months and not sure if his ready to use a pillow.

  • Spotlight has them and big w

  • I didn’t use a pillow till mine were 2/3 years old. My daughter had a flat head as well and i had a physiotherapist looking at it. She advised exercises and positioning.

  • We didnt use a pillow until my son was 21months and was in a big bed. Its personal choice. We went straight to a normal pillow though

  • I bought our daughter an infant pillow from baby buntings.

  • Target have great “your first pillow” pillows!

  • Im pretty sure I saw childrens pillows at Kmart on the weekend. Otherwise I know baby Bunting stock them.

  • I know that physician recommends toddlers from the age of 2 and above to have a pillow because kids move a lot in bed. But,if you know your child then you can easily buy them from most places and I bought mine from Adair kids for my two years old.

  • I starting using a baby pillow from 12mths onwards. Most stores like Target, Kmart etc have them.

  • I saw some in Kmart about 2 weeks ago :)

  • My eldest uses a Tontine pillow i got from Target from memory? My toddlers still dont use a pillow at 3. Ive tried when they moved to big beds but neither liked them. They sleep fine without. Best to get a very low, kind of firm pillow when u decide to get one.

  • I remember buying a junior pillow from Myers (because I had a voucher to use up). I think my daughter was a toddler at the time.

  • My kids love the IKEA one found in the baby section – it’s very thin and perfect size for a beginner pillow. You can buy pillow cases for these there too.

  • Each of my children had a tea tree bark pillow as babies then they moved onto a Tontine Baby pillow. My 3 year old twins still use their baby tontine pillow. I got the Tontine from Target store.

  • A baby tends to need a low pillow when he/she start sleeping on their side to support the neck or they are tilting head down onto shoulder.

  • With two of my three kids they started using it at around 2 and a half, my third child is nearly four and has never taken to it.. He only ever uses one when he comes into our room for a snuggle… But as soon as he wants one he can use it..

  • We started using a pillow when my son was 18 months, mostly because he insisted that he do everything we were doing. We bought a Tontine one (“My first pillow”) from Spotlight. It’s really low.

  • Age 12 months, I wouldn’t even be thinking of buying a pillow. I didn’t give my kids one until they were sleeping in beds. That’s approximately 2 years old.

  • Target and big w have pillows for toddlers, but baby bunting has the ones for flat spots for babies

  • They have pillows at Baby Bunting designed to help get rid of flat spots on baby’s head. They’re $39.95. You can buy online or in store. Here is the link.

  • Baby Bunting have pillows designed for infants. They’re not as plump as normal pillows so they are quite safe. If you speak to the staff there they will help you out with the right one.
