Hello!

Ive got a heap of secondary school books to sell, anyone know of any online sites dedicated to this. Pitty the school didnt provide a suitable secondhand sales solution. Any tips or ideas would be great on where can I sell secondhand school books.

  • Both our kids schools have a dedicated facebook page where you can sell second hand school uniforms/books etc or otherwise the buy and sell pages for your area/marketplace on facebook is a really good option.

  • And ? did you succeed to sell them ?

  • Does the school have an online noticeboard? Or a facebook page?

  • Another school might

  • Gumtree and second hand bookshops and on your local community boards.

  • Definatley Gumtree. We sold a lot over the years and they sell well as everyone loves a cheap textbook for students .

  • You could put an ad in your school newsletter or advertise on your local Buy Swap & Sell Facebook page.
It’s very disappointing that your school doesn’t offer a 2nd hand book sale, it would be extremely useful for low income families who can not afford a lot of the expensive text books.

  • Yes I would ask at the school office or gumtree as well!

  • A lot of schools have a secondhand bookshop set up, I’m surprised yours doesn’t, maybe you could suggest one or even help set one up? If that gets nowhere, word of mouth is best, tell your friends who tell their friends who tell their friends etc. Or maybe you could place a small advert in the school newsletter.

  • Ask at the school office… or gumtree

  • We have local buy and sell pages for school uniforms and books etc on Facebook, and I sometimes see them listed in our newspaper buy and sell section.

  • I agree, Ebays pretty much the way to go I think

  • Local buy swap and sell sites are great, trading post has free online advertising I believe or you could contact the school and see what they recommend you do. Perhaps putting an ad through their noticeboard.

  • Ive seen lots of old text books listed on facebook site like Bits and Pieces, might be a good place to start.

  • If you have facebook, there are local selling sites in every area. Just type in buy/sell and your district. Ive made over $2000 selling items no longer needed. Its like a garage sale online, just dont let people in your home, meet at the door and dont give out address until they are on their way for pick up. Just some hints ive learnt

  • Have you checked if there’s any local facebook selling sites? They are great.

  • There is a FB page called Old School Traders. I know they sell used books, maybe you can sell through them? I do know if you look up ‘2nd hand…’ In a FB search, you will get relevant pages that you can join to sell you books. Or join a local BUY SWAP & SELL FB page and sell them (plus anything else you got collecting dust) to locals in the area. They are addictive!

  • I know there is some Facebook pages set up just for the selling of School books etc. Maybe look into if there is one for your local area :)
Otherwise I know of lots of people who look on Gumtree and eBay for them

  • My daughter sold a few of hers and some of her friends’ books on facebook. Friends and friends of friends. Turned out to be easy and effective.

  • At my daughters school we have notice boards where you can list your preloved uniforms and school books, ask at your school, if not, try ebay.
