I was taught by my mum. I believe you can do TAFE courses.

You can learn online with youtube – there are tons of fantastic tutorials on there. Just look up what you want to make and they will step you through it all.

a lot of local craft supply shops will hold workshops like this so keep your eye out! why not learn by watching some youtube or spending time with her and getting tips?

Here in Tassie,new have small sewing centres,much as Spotlight fir example. They sometimes hold sewing classes. Or you could try your localnTAFE, they’re frost Tor little learn how to thingys

I would also recommend online or spotlight but if you have the money and have a WEA , TAFE or similar close they are tops.

Try YouTube for online tutorial, or see if they run classes at Spotlights, I think they used to do it, but haven’t been there for some time.

I envy people who can sew. I recently bought a machine but need to find a place for lessons as well!

There might be a community college course, WEA or something like that. My MIL went to some knitting classes at a shop that sold knitted items – some church groups might offer them too. Check out your local paper

Might look online, cause there isn’t really any sewing place near where we live in a small country town.

Also use google and find some online tutorials – they may be useful until you find a sewing class.

Some places that specialise in selling sewing machines have classes. I can’t remember how much we paid for the lessons but we were supplied with the fabric we used in the fee. We were also given an instruction booklet set up for us to write in extra notes and instructions .

Would your MIL be able to show you how to sew and pass on her skills! If not, then try classes at any fabric shop. They run classes for all levels of ability. Have fun learning to sew.

I have a sewing machine, broke the needle, might have to learn to put a new needle in again so I can start learning again…

There are some great easy sewing patterns online, and local sewing stores generally do classes that teach how to do various things. I know that we have a fabric place in our town, Addicted to Farbic, that do workshops plus you can always bring a piece in to them when you’re stuck and they’ll help you out, that’s a trick I learned from my mother who does it back home with her knitting otherwise I never would have though to do it.
When I started myself I just started with napkins because they’re square and basic, plus I figured if I messed up no one would care 🙂 Good luck!

The local community centre/hub is a great place to start… Thats if you you live in the city…

You can do classes. Lots of local places do them and I think Spotlight does them too. Have a look online. i knew how to use a sewing machine and do the basics when I started to quilt. I watched youtube videos on how to piece quilts and do everything else. I found it a lot easier to watch someone else do it rather then just read instructions. There are a million sewing blogs online too with simple patterns.
