  • Do you mean in specific for cooking and or heating ?

  • If you can get discounted power for heating, it’s pretty good. Personally, I prefer the good old wood heater. Don’t have to worry about turning it off and on, if you’re low on wood, fill it up and shut it down to burn on low

  • gas by far, but if you can afford solar panels that helps too (in the long run)

  • I think gas is definitely better than electricity.

  • Solar panels sound interesting and would love to look into them.

  • We have all of the options from solar power during the day, what isnt used is feed back in to the lines, we use electricity at night and during the day when the solar is not that good and have a gas hot water service, and stove top and for heating.. I do not like the idea of been trapped into one service.. eg when there is a power outage there goes the solar and the electricity you can not use the stove top unless it is gas.. which mine is. I like to keep all options open.. just incase.. then you can still cook tea when needed or heat the kettle for a cup of tea..I do not see it as cost effective but as a means to survive when others fail..

  • We have solar panels and solar hot water system, and that is helping a lot in keeping the electricity bill down. But, without them, I think gas is a lot more cost-effective.

  • Wood heater with a cheap/free supply of wood; plus just rugging up with warm clothes, getting some good curtain liners and exercising indoors to generate heat (and be healthy). Over gas/electric I prefer electricity because there is scope to offset bills with solar, but there are meant to be price hikes soon (not sure if in just electricity or gas too?), so maybe check before deciding.

  • Our electricity bill in Winter is alot,l would have to say gas is more cost effective from past experience.
