Hi MoMs, was wondering if anyone can give me a heads up on why prescription drug prices vary among different pharmacies? We have two chemists near us, one that we usually get most of our prescriptions from (this chemist my hubby prefers) and one located in our shopping centre that is a little more convenient when out and about do a spot of shopping. It was the usual chemist that I got my latest prescription filled, when putting away my medication in the bedroom, I noticed that the previous script had been filled at the other chemist. I do know that there can and has been a slight difference in price at times but this particular instance was totally outrageous. The medication that I had previously got was $6.00 and the medication this time was $11.15 and NO there was not a great gap in time between the two. I have heard and seen adverts where Chemist Warehouse and the like advertise that their scripts are 50% cheaper than some other chemist, unfortunately we do not have one close by. The medication I received was identical (in same box etc) just a higher price. I feel folk should not have to run all around town getting quotes on their meds and feel that all chemists/pharmacies should be the same price and feel that the government should over see this. Do you agree with me and why is there such a huge difference in price? Thanks and looking forward to your input.
