  • You can only do so much for your kids and hope they make the right choices.

  • I’m so sorry you are going through such heartache. Have you asked your son why? Sometimes we say or do things that hurt others without even knowing it and unless he explains what it was you can’t even begin to mend your relationship. When someone decided you have wronged them then everything you have done to help them seems to be forgotten about and they only see their own pain. I hope you are given the opportunity to make things right with your son very soon xx

  • Families are just so complex. There is not a lot you can do but time does make a difference. Try not to dwell on it and hopefully they will soften and allow you back into their lives again. Please let us know how you go. It is very sad.

  • I agree with BellaB that this question is hard to answer and that there are many facets to this personality, upbringing, friends, life experiences and choice of partner.
Have they exactly spoken out what is the issue ?

  • That must be very difficult for you and unfortunately you may never know the reason why. Can only be open to reconnection when he is ready.

  • You did your best and now it’s up to them to behave and show their children how families come together. There is be two sides to the story and your side is they don’t want a relationship with you. Do not let this get the better of you. I hope you have friends and other family and a outside hobby. If not think about moving on.. move into a retirement village with people like yourself where they find friendship and company. You can have your own life your own home still and live and laugh with new friends. I have two friend who lost their partners took my advice… they are so busy in their over 55 retirement villages I have to talk to them at night. I love hearing about their days. One says she is feeling like a teenager again she has a best girlfriend and they do everything together and at night they sleep in their own home. This might be a good move for you.. for your future. Do what’s best for you. I hope this information helps. Never loose hope. Still send cards and letters to the kids. Happy days ahead!

  • This is very sad indeed and the reason behind it you may never exactly know. Don’t take it to personally and keep your arms open in the case they do want to visit or make an attempt to make contact. And yes, do things for yourself, visit / make friends, develop a hobby and focus on your own life.

  • It’s sad when this happens, but guess you’ll just have to weather the storm. Maybe he and his wife feel threatened by you doing so much for them, but they might come round in time. But in the meantime, find something to do and get out and about and meet new friends. Your own mental health will depend on you staying strong.

  • This is very sad. Sometimes you just can’t pick it. People change and turn unfortunately.

  • There are so many factors that this question is almost unanswerable – genetics, upbringing, friends, life experiences, inborn personality…. Often you can’t blame it on anything.

  • I feel sorry for you, Hope they wake up to themselves before it’s too late. Take care
