My 9 yr old (who has Down Syndrome) still doesn’t like blankets. During the winter months I do a long sleeved shirt under her onesie, knee length socks and a sleeping tog over that. I order for my daughter @ ErgoPouch, they come in different thickness and sizes. My 9yr old still fits in a size 4-6yr

personally we don’t use heaters during the night. At that age my focus was more on layers, as I was never able to keep the blankets on; a tshirt under a onesie, socks on and a sleeping bag

When my kids are little and don’t use blankets i out them in sleeping bags and a thermal top to keep them warm. I will have the reverse cycle heat on until we go to bed. I also check all children and make sure they are covered and warm. If your son’s room heats up quickly try leaving the door open a gap or turning his room off. Might just give you a better nights sleep

I’d suggest turning off the central heating overnight. It is probably better for you not to sleep with it on all night. A baby sleeping bag is good too.

I used to heat up a wheat bag and place at the base of their bed just before I went to bed at night. This kept the bed nice and toasty for them for quite a few hours.

K13, It depends on the size and age of your baby.
When you say central heating, if you mean via air conditioner ducts, it is possible that there is too much air flow coming through the vent which can be adjusted. We had the same problem. The rest of the house would be moderate temperature but it would either be really hot or freezing cold compared to the other rooms. The installed a part to the vent – up in the ceiling as just adjusting the flutes in the vent didn’t have much impact at all. Do you put your baby in a sleeping bag at all, especially in cold weather. Relatives of ours didn’t have heat connected to their airconditioner. Right from day one both the girls slept with the arms loose, otherwise they would wriggle around and grizzle until the fell asleep from sheer exhaustion. As toddlers they put a T-shirt as well as a singlet under their PJs to keep their chests and backs warm because they wouldn’t keep their arms down under the blankets. They were inclined to be prone to chest infections before they started doing that. One of the girls is a Mum of 2 young children – the youngest a toddler. She doesn’t put a T-Shirt on the elder one as she now keeps her arms covered up, but the toddler still has a T-Shirt on but no sleeping bag as he takes himself to the toilet even though he still has a night nappy.

i let the kids decide if theyre too hot or too cold. a change in temperature is likely to wake them up and theyll sort themselves out in my experience
