Hello!

my daughter will be three at the end of this year and she is going to be attending daycare for one full day starting next month when I return to work, three year old kinder only runs for 2 1/2 hours do you think it is worthwhile enrolling your child in this when they already attend daycare??

  • At age three, as long as they’re getting the social interaction, there’s not much difference between daycare and kindy. I think I would prefer daycare as it’s a full day

  • i prefer day care. =) learns more about socializing and stuff. when she is in kinder, she will learn her ABCs. for now, socializing and having fun and adjusting is more impt for her i think

  • Does the daycare provide a 3 year preschool program? Maybe find that out and then that can inform your decision.

  • um you should consider if it is the best thing to do. he can get a different sort of stimulation being with the kids.

  • My son (now 3) will be attending his daycare 2 days a week next year and I have also enrolled him in the local 3 year old Kinder. He is our second born and constantly wants more challenges! Our daughter has just completed her 4 year old program at the same Kinder. He actually asked to go there as he knows a lot of the younger siblings from my daughters Kinder class mates and he will eventually attend the 4 year old program there.

  • Probably not, it’s not for very long. But I would do it, just so my kids have the best opportunities and enjoy all available options

  • Thanks I guess I should look into the costs also

  • My son will be attending 3 year old day care mainly to get him use to the kinder and so he can form friendships for the following year., its also to make sure he get a spot in the four year old one the following year where all the good ones are hard to get into.
My son also attends day care once a week but it about exposing him to different enviroments so he will be secure been left with others when he starts school. My oldest son was a wreck when he started school been left in a different place to what he was use to. The only negative is that it costs heaps more to attend the three year old kinder.

  • Didn’t think to ask if the daycare has a kindy program great idea thank you!

  • I would chose what ever works for you and your family and your budget. You may even find the daycare runs a kindy program (most do – something to check). I personally wouldn’t bother especially if they are not at the same place. However it is up to you and what is easier for you while you work

  • You may find your day care already runs a kinder program

  • I would choose whatever works best for you as far as proximity to home, getting her there and picking up etc. If it make is more difficult, there is no reason not to keep her in day care if you think she is doing well there.
