Hello!

A viral recipe for ‘healthy’ Coke has divided tastebuds, with some falling in love with the healthier alternative to Coca-Cola, while others can’t quite stomach the flavour.

Using just two ingredients, the healthy Coke alternative is nothing more than sparkling water and balsamic vinegar over ice. And it’s set tongues (and tastebuds) wagging.

TikTok creator Amanda Jones uploaded the recipe, saying her pilates instructor makes the healthy Coke almost every day.

“It’s a healthy alternative to a Coke. And I am not joking you, it tastes just like a Coke and you’re going to think I’m insane.”

There’s no real recipe for the healthy Coke – just a ‘splash’ of balsamic vinegar over ice, and then pour over any sparkling water. “I swear to God, it tastes like a Coke,” Amanda gushes, “and it’s healthy and it’s good for you.”

Her video has had more than six million views, with mixed reactions from followers.

“Not salad dressing soda!” replied one follower.

“Zero chance that tastes like Coke.”

“I TRIED IT!! I can confirm for everyone in the comment section wondering, that this absolutely, undeniably, did not taste like Coke.”

Healthy Coke

And there’s some concern about dental health when it comes to downing the drink.

“It may be better for your waistline, but it may not be any better for your teeth,” dietician Dr Rosemary Stanton told The Guardian.

“But if you’re using a flavoured soda water and there’s sugar in it, then it’s bad for your teeth and your waistline. Then the only thing you’d be avoiding is the caffeine, and that’s probably the least of the three problems with Coke.”

  • I love coke but unfortunately I haven’t had it in years as it leaves my body buzzing and I struggle to sleep after having it.
I’m not sure I really agree that ‘healthy’ and ‘coke’ go in the same sentence….

  • Well, sorry. I am not a fan of Coke, but it has its own unique flavour and Balsamic Vinegar just wouldn’t cut it at all.

  • Wow, that’s just next level. I wouldn’t claim it tastes like coke, but I know apple cider vinegar has great health benefits so maybe Balsamic and soda can be good for you.

  • I can’t think of anything worse. It’s either Diet Coke or Coke Zero for me as a treat. I mostly drink water these days. Oh, and coffee of course.

  • I’m not a big coke drinker anyway and if I do it’s Coke Zero. I think I’ll give this one a miss.
